ClubStar’s first full-day workshop with Mahogany Where else can you get a full day of world class hairdressing education for just £10? ClubStar the youth membership programme of the Fellowship for British Hairdressing teamed up with international hairdressing educators Mahogany this April to pack in demonstrations and work sessions for an inspirational workshop.
Darren Newton, Creative Director of the Mahogany Academy and his team shared some of Mahogany’s key techniques and showed the audience how to create outstanding quality cuts and colours. Each member of the audience was required to bring one model and their session bag and then the afternoon was spent in a guided work session. Attendees were able to access Mahogany educators’ extensive experience and knowledge in a focussed and detailed way.
And that wasn’t all! The audience also got the opportunity to win a 2-day course at the Academy valued at £500. Simon Shaw said, “We are absolutely blown away by Mahogany’s on-going support of ClubStar. We’ve really got momentum with our education now due in no small part to some of the industry’s greatest educators. ClubStar gives young people unprecedented access to first class learning experiences and we are really proud.”
Mahogany Inspires ClubStar members at Mahogany Academy, Dering Street, London. ClubStar the youth membership programme of the Fellowship for British Hairdressing has hosted yet another successful event for members. Held at the beautifully appointed Mahogany Academy on the 22nd March, the evening showcased Mahogany’s latest creative work entitled ‘Collection Garconne’. ClubStar Project Leader Simon Shaw was on hand to welcome members and introduce Darren Newton, Creative Director of the Mahogany Academy. Darren and his team spend considerable time travelling the world to share their skills on countless international stages as well as educating many students who flock to the heart of London and the Mahogany Academy. The intimate venue allowed ClubStar members to get up close and personal with Mahogany’s high technical standards and beautiful work. Simon Shaw said, “The audience was really captivated with the work sessions and truly blown away by the presentation models. Mahogany is a company committed to quality and ClubStar is grateful for their support.”
The night at Mahogany was a sell-out event with tickets FREE to ClubStar members. The team shared their techniques and inspiration with the audience and gave real wisdom and advice on their creative approach to hairdressing. The audience were also able to ask questions and chat with the team after the seminar.
ClubStar - Use and Abuse Workshop at Alan d Academy ClubStar Ambassador, Jamie Stevens, and Nathan Jasztal of Silhouette du Barry were asked by ClubStar members to provide a workshop. Sunday 15th November 2009 saw an eager group of ClubStar members split into two groups of education. Jamie Stevens set about mentoring his group on cutting techniques whilst Nathan Jasztal gave education and insight into session work. Both groups spent the afternoon drawing the expertise from their mentors to produce their unique look on their own models. All ClubStar members were then given the opportunity to present their work showing what they had learnt and taken from the workshop. One ClubStar member, Jonathan De Francesco of Benjamin Ryan Hair, Birmingham, explained. “The look I created with Jamie was a classic Audrey Hepburn, creating heavy lines within an extremely tapered look. I learnt how to control stubborn hair using scissor over comb techniques and how building weight lines can open up the face and create features. Nathan showed us a variety of techniques straight off the catwalk that will compliment my day-to-day work. Overall the day was a great experience and came away feeling confident about the new skills I had learnt.”
“All the students produced work of a high skill set and gave huge enthusiasm to their work,” explained Jamie Stevens.
Our thanks go to Edward Hemmings for supplying the venue; ClubStar members for their endless passion for learning; all models and, by no means least, Jamie & Nathan for their time and mentoring.
