The Fellowship Academy of Merit and Excellence (F.A.M.E.) Team are selected annually to promote a new generation of bright young hairdressers. Nominated exclusively by Fellowship members the potential team members undergo a rigorous selection process that starts with a nomination from a Member of The Fellowship and includes photographic work, a test of the candidates' ability to recreate their photographs under time pressure, a detailed CV, an in-depth interview, a haircut, a long hair assessment and a 2-minute live demonstration of their hairdressing skills onstage at Salon International.

A busy and fulfilling year is organised for the F.A.M.E Team. This involves photographic shoots, media publicity, fashion shows, hairdressing seminars and events. Above all the team hone their skills and are given a unique platform to shine.

Top hairdressers who started their careers in the F.A.M.E Team include Umberto Giannini, Errol Douglas, Antoinette Beenders, Lisa Shepherd, Carolyn Newman, Paul Merritt, Zoë Irwin... and many more.

If you want to apply for F.A.M.E. Team 2016 you will need to be nominated by your salon – look out for the nomination forms coming your way in May.

PROJECT X has been described as “the ultimate hairdressing finishing school”. It aims to attract a broad and experienced calibre of participants from Fellowship member salons.

Courses are backed and taught by amazing names including Mark Hayes, Harriet Edgley, Debbie G, Colin Greaney, Caroline Cox and many more… This really is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Contact Freya on 01295 724580 if you would like details of how to become involved.

At the end of the course there is the added incentive that will help participants onto the next level in our industry, an award called the “Umberto Giannini Project X Student of the Year” is announced at the Fellowship Luncheon and Awards each year.

Talented Project X student Melissa Timperley from Sassoons accepted the Umberto Giannini Project X Student of the Year Award from Fellowship President Errol Douglas MBE and Project Leader Debbie Currie at this year’s Fellowship Luncheon at The Dorchester Hotel, Park Lane. Melissa was assessed over 12 months in presentation skills, styling talent, creativity, time keeping and team work. “The quality of the Project X students was higher than ever before this year,” says Debbie.

Ashleigh Hodges, Flame Hair Studios, will be taking over the reins as Project Leader and the Project X students for 2015 will begin their year of mentoring at ‘hairdressing’s finest finishing school’ in January.
